The Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking’s Fast Film Fest is a festival for 5 minute or shorter paper animation films. The competition is free and open to the public. All short films should be created between January 15 and March 05, 2021. All animations must be paper-based, using cutout animation and/or stop motion animation techniques. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges to be presented during a virtual screening and award ceremony on Friday, March 19, 2021. Lights, camera, action! The screening and awards ceremony for the 3rdFast Film Fest took place virtually on Friday, March 19 at 8pm (EST). This year’s theme is “Community: The World as We Know It,” and the 2021 jurors are Casandra Brewton-JohnsonLisa Ferrell, and Allyssa A. Lewis. The screening consisted of a selection of films by Saul Eidison, last year's People's Choice Awardee viewing before viewing the juried submissions. Interspersed between the submissions video introductions with a short message from each juror played the audience voted via poll for the 2021 People's Choice. After all the entries and juror videos played and all the votes were cast, the winners were revealed.

The screening was the culminating event of Fast Film Festival 2021. Workshops and panels led by professionals in the field of animation provided insight into the artform and tips of the trade were shared via panels and videos. Festival participants created unique animated films using paper as the primary medium.

Festival coordinator Jerushia Graham says, “The creativity of the entries is incredible. What people are able to do with a camera, some paper, and a good idea is unlimited.” This is the third Fast Film Fest produced by the museum. Entries and panels from this year and previous years can be viewed on the Paper Animation Film Fest YouTube page.
